I've transformed this space from a charming but crowded vintage parlor into a calm, light-filled living room that feels both fresh and welcoming.
In the before, the room was layered with rich patterns, dark woods, and countless collected treasures—floral sofas, a pale blue china cabinet, and surfaces filled with lamps, plants, and keepsakes. While full of personality, it felt heavy and a little closed in.
For the after, I lightened everything. I swapped the busy floral upholstery for soft gray sofas with clean lines, introduced warm whitewashed wood furniture, and replaced the dark wood tones with a softer, more natural palette. The busy surfaces were cleared, allowing a few well-chosen pieces—like the round coffee table and simple lanterns—to breathe. A natural jute rug grounds the seating area without competing visually, and the overall effect is brighter, more open, and easier to relax in while still feeling cozy and lived-in.
