A bold chevron sofa brings Art Deco glamour home.

I took this once-quiet, softly neutral living room and gave it a bold, confident personality while keeping its natural light and easy flow.

The walls stayed the same gentle greige, but everything else got a fresh sense of drama and warmth. The plain sofa was replaced with a striking blue-and-white chevron pattern that immediately draws the eye, and the simple wooden side tables were swapped for rich, dark cabinets with a subtle geometric print and gold trim. Flanking the sofa, two tall potted palms bring life and softness, while a large, faceted mirror above the sofa reflects light and makes the room feel even more expansive.

On the floor, a graphic black, ivory, and gold rug replaced the quiet beige one, grounding the space with energy. The simple round coffee table gave way to a sleek glass-and-brass design that feels lighter yet more glamorous. Finally, I added a few sculptural touches—a pair of golden figures and a vintage-style clock on the mantel—to create moments of interest without cluttering the room. The result is still comfortable and livable, but now it has personality, depth, and a touch of modern elegance.
