Green Velvet and Rich Patterns Bring Soul to a Living Room

I took a calm, understated space and turned it into a warm, inviting room that feels collected and full of life.

The once-neutral walls are now layered with a thoughtful gallery of art, mirrors, and antique-style clocks, giving the room personality and depth. The simple beige sofa was replaced with a rich green velvet one, instantly adding color and softness. I swapped the plain curtains for a bold floral pattern that frames the windows beautifully and ties the whole palette together.

On the floor, a large, richly patterned rug in deep reds and blues anchors the seating area and brings warmth to the hardwood. The round wooden coffee table gave way to a sculptural gold piece that feels like a piece of art in itself. I added a tall potted tree, stacks of books, ceramic vases, and plenty of plants to soften the corners and bring the outdoors in.

The result is a room that still feels bright and open, but now has soul—layered, welcoming, and ready to be lived in.
