I took a calm, quiet space and turned it into a warm, welcoming room that feels like a hug.
The room already had beautiful bones—tall ceilings, rich wood floors, and those lovely French doors—so I kept the soft greige walls and simply layered in color, texture, and personality. Out went the pale sofa and understated rug; in came a generous L-shaped sectional in a rich burnt-orange fabric with a deep olive-green chaise that grounds the whole room. A bold, geometric rug in warm sunset tones now anchors the seating area and adds playful energy underfoot.
To balance the vibrancy, I swapped the crisp white curtains for soft, rust-and-ochre striped drapes that feel both cozy and sophisticated. I added layers of natural texture with a woven round mirror, hanging plants that bring life and movement, and a large abstract artwork filled with the same warm, earthy hues. Lighting was upgraded with a glowing flush-mount ceiling fixture and a pair of sculptural orange lamps that cast a golden evening glow.
The result is a space that still feels open and airy thanks to the light walls and wood floors, but now radiates warmth, personality, and an inviting sense of “come sit down and stay awhile.”
