Vibrant Memphis Energy Anchored By Playful Patterns

I took a calm, quietly elegant space and gave it a joyful burst of personality.

The room already had wonderful bones—the rich wood floors, the generous French doors, and that soft, neutral backdrop—so I kept the architecture exactly as it was and simply layered on color, pattern, and playfulness.

Where there was once a soft beige sofa, there’s now a bold, graphic one dressed in black-and-white polka dots and stripes, accented with sunny yellow pillows. The simple wooden coffee table was replaced by a cheerful pink one with a bright green base that feels like a piece of modern sculpture. A large, heart-filled geometric rug now anchors the seating area, pulling every color in the room together in one happy sweep.

On the walls, I swapped the quiet emptiness for a collection of vibrant abstract paintings and a whimsical round mirror framed in a bold pattern. The side tables and lamps were updated with saturated hues—turquoise, coral, cobalt, and pink—so that even the lighting feels festive. Finally, a colorful Roman shade and a tall, leafy plant in a polka-dot pot bring the eye up and add the finishing touch of life and movement.

The result is the same room, just awakened—still spacious and light-filled, but now full of energy, warmth, and personality.
