A patterned blue sofa brings Palm Beach style home

I took this lovely, light-filled room and gave it a fresh, inviting personality while keeping its calm and airy spirit intact.

Before, the space felt serene but a little quiet—soft beige walls, a neutral sofa, and simple wooden pieces created a calm backdrop, yet the room lacked warmth and personality. The large beige rug and matching furniture blended together, making the space feel more like a blank canvas than a lived-in home.

In the after version, I layered in color, texture, and thoughtful details to bring the room to life. I swapped the plain sofa for one upholstered in a cheerful blue-and-white pattern, instantly adding energy and charm. A vibrant rug with soft coral and turquoise tones now anchors the seating area, tying the palette together and making the dark wood floors feel richer. The round wooden coffee table was replaced with a light, breezy white wicker piece that feels fresh and coastal.

To add depth and character, I introduced a collection of blue-and-white accessories, a sculptural sunburst mirror, and a few pieces of framed art that draw the eye around the room. Lush green plants—both potted on the floor and standing tall in the corner—bring life and softness, while the white console tables behind the sofa provide balance and extra display space. The result is a room that still feels peaceful and bright, but now has a welcoming, collected feel, as if it’s ready for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or gathering with friends.
