Description

I took this bright, open living room and transformed it from a calm but somewhat bare space into a warm, inviting retreat that feels lived-in and full of personality.

In the “before” version, the room had a clean, minimalist feel with its neutral walls, simple sofa, and plain rug. While it was bright and airy, it lacked warmth and character. For the “after,” I layered in texture, color, and natural elements to make the space feel cozy and welcoming. I swapped the plain rug for a large, softly patterned vintage-style piece that grounds the room and adds depth. The sofa now feels more inviting with a mix of warm-toned pillows and a chunky knit throw. I replaced the coffee table with a beautifully carved hexagonal one and added a striking woven pendant light that draws the eye upward and creates a cozy glow in the evening.

To bring life and softness into the room, I introduced several healthy plants—both floor-standing and hanging—along with natural woven baskets and textured wall art. The curtains were tied back with simple rope ties to let in more light while adding a casual, organic touch. Overall, the space went from feeling like a blank canvas to a comfortable, collected living room that feels both stylish and easy to relax in.
