I’ve given this living room a warm, collected refresh that feels both familiar and brand new.
The biggest shift was swapping the bold red rug for a soft, natural-weave area rug layered with a classic red-and-black plaid runner. That simple change instantly made the space feel calmer and more grounded. I then brought in a tall wooden bookcase on the left, turning what was once a bulky piano into a curated display of books, baskets, and a little owl—adding both storage and personality without crowding the room.
The recliner stayed, but I dressed it in fresh layers: a chunky ivory knit throw, a forest plaid pillow, and a sweet bear cushion that nods to the cabin spirit. A new floor lamp now arcs gently over the chair, creating a cozy reading nook, while a tree-stump side table holds a lantern that glows softly in the evening.
On the wall, the tropical print and trailing vines were replaced with a peaceful mountain landscape and a simple grapevine wreath, keeping the nature theme but making it feel more serene and cohesive. The overall result is a room that still feels like home, just a little more polished, balanced, and ready to be enjoyed every day.
