I took this once-quiet, neutral living room and gave it a warm, welcoming personality while keeping its graceful bones intact.

The biggest change was adding a fireplace on the left wall—it instantly creates a natural focal point and makes the room feel like it’s gathered around something cozy. From there, I swapped the straight, pale sofa for a generous curved sectional in rich mustard and terracotta tones. The new shape softens the space and draws everyone in toward the center.

I layered in color and texture everywhere else: a lively geometric rug in greens and golds grounds the seating area, while patterned curtains in warm spice tones frame the windows and French doors. On the walls, a mix of abstract art and a sculptural sunburst mirror adds personality without feeling busy. A tall fiddle-leaf fig in a woven basket brings life into the corner, and the soft glow from the updated lamps makes the whole room feel inviting at any hour.

The result is still elegant and airy, but now it feels like a room that wants you to come in, curl up, and stay awhile.
