I've transformed this living room from a somewhat heavy, traditional space into one that feels lighter, more balanced, and welcoming.
The biggest shift came from swapping out the chunky round coffee table for a sleek rectangular one with clean lines—this instantly opened up the center of the room and made it feel more spacious. I replaced the bulky wooden side tables with slender, modern ones that have a delicate metal base, which helps the room breathe and allows more light to flow through.
On the right wall, I added a large wooden-framed mirror. It not only brings in extra light and a sense of depth, but also creates a beautiful focal point that makes the room feel more complete. I also brought in a tall, leafy fiddle-leaf fig tree, which adds life, texture, and a natural touch that softens the space.
The overall result is a room that still feels calm and neutral, but now has a fresher, more contemporary feel with better flow and visual balance.
