Description

I took a calm, understated space and turned it into a warm, welcoming haven that feels like a deep exhale the moment you walk in.

The room already had wonderful bones—beautiful light, generous windows, and that lovely dark wood floor—so I didn’t need to fight against it. Instead, I layered in softness, texture, and personality. The simple sofa was swapped for a deep, inviting sectional that wraps around the room and encourages lingering. I replaced the plain ceiling light with a woven pendant that casts a gentle, golden glow, and I added a tall floor lamp with a natural shade to balance the light at night.

On the walls, I created a collected gallery that feels personal rather than perfect, mixing framed pieces with woven wall hangings and macramé for a relaxed, artistic rhythm. The crisp white curtains were exchanged for a softer, patterned pair that adds quiet movement, while the new rug—bold yet still neutral—anchors everything with its graphic pattern and generous fringe.

I introduced a palette of warm terracotta, rust, and olive through pillows and throws, giving the once-neutral room a cozy, lived-in soul. A sculptural live-edge coffee table and a woven pouf replaced the more formal pieces, and a tall fiddle-leaf fig now brings life into the corner. The result is a space that still feels light and airy, but now feels truly lived in—like a room that invites you to curl up with a book, gather with friends, or simply stay a little longer.
