**The Before:** Originally, the room had a clean but somewhat generic feel, like a fresh start waiting for its story. The walls were a soft beige, paired with wide hardwood floors in a warm brown tone that grounded the space. A simple beige sofa sat against the back wall, flanked by matching wooden side tables topped with classic white lamps. In front, a rectangular wooden coffee table held a small succulent for a touch of green, while a single brown leather armchair angled toward the sliding glass doors, letting in plenty of natural light from the windows. **The After:** My goal was to infuse the space with a groovy, mid-century modern vibe inspired by the 1970s, using earthy tones, bold patterns, and layered textures to create a cozy retreat that encourages relaxation and conversation. We kept the beautiful hardwood floors and light beige walls as a neutral backdrop, but everything else got a playful upgrade to make the room pop with warmth and personality.

Starting with the seating, I swapped the straight-lined sofa for a plush, L-shaped sectional in a rich terracotta orange velvet—it's like sinking into a sunset, with mustard-yellow throw pillows adding pops of sunshine and contrast. The original leather armchair gave way to a curvaceous, swivel-style chair in a textured, earthy fabric with subtle patterns, positioned perfectly for chatting or gazing out at the greenery beyond the doors.
