I've transformed this once bright and casual living room into a rich, atmospheric retreat with a steampunk-inspired soul.
The space went from light and somewhat scattered to a moody, cohesive sanctuary where every detail feels intentional. I wrapped the walls in a warm, damask-patterned wallpaper that instantly added depth and character, then swapped the plain blinds for dramatic burgundy velvet curtains framed with antique brass chains.
The furniture was reimagined with a darker, more grounded palette—deep wood tones paired with aged brass and copper accents. The coffee table and media console now feature vintage-style hardware, while the shelving unit was styled with an eclectic mix of old books, brass gears, globes, and antique clocks to create that signature steampunk layering.
I replaced the modern wall art with blueprint-style prints of airships and machinery, and introduced warm, ambient lighting through Edison bulbs and a classic desk lamp to give the room its golden-hour glow. Even the sofa was refreshed with richly textured pillows in deep reds and patterns, tying the whole story together.
The result is a room that feels lived-in yet curated—like a gentleman inventor’s private study crossed with a cozy modern lounge.
