I took this bright, airy living room and gave it a fresh new personality while keeping its natural light and spacious feel intact.
Before, the room had a calm, almost quiet presence—soft beige walls, a simple ivory sofa, and gentle wood tones that let the sunlight and garden views take center stage. It felt serene and understated.
In the new design, I introduced warmth, pattern, and a touch of drama. The biggest change was adding a classic fireplace with a crisp white mantel on the right wall, instantly creating a natural focal point and making the room feel more like a true gathering place. Above it, a large round sunburst mirror reflects light and adds architectural interest.
I swapped the neutral sofa for one upholstered in a bold navy-and-gold chevron pattern, then layered in matching patterned curtains that frame the windows with more presence. The once-plain area rug was replaced with a striking geometric design in navy, ivory, and gold that grounds the seating area beautifully. Two tall palm plants now flank the sofa, bringing life and a fresh, organic touch, while the new coffee table—with its marble top and slender gold base—adds a modern, elegant contrast to all the pattern.
The result is a room that still feels open and light-filled, but now has energy, character, and a welcoming sense of style.
