Vibrant Primary Accents Wake Up Memphis Living Rooms

In the before photo, the room felt calm and airy, with soft beige walls, a neutral sofa, and warm wood tones that let the natural light and the view outside take center stage. It was a lovely, peaceful space, but it lacked personality.

For the after, I wanted to turn that quiet canvas into something joyful and full of life. I kept the bones of the room—the beautiful hardwood floors, the generous windows, and the French doors—but layered in bold color and playful energy. The sofa now wears a vibrant patchwork of primary colors and graphic patterns, instantly becoming the heart of the room. I swapped the simple round coffee table for a sculptural, multi-colored piece that feels like a piece of modern art you can gather around. The plain rug gave way to a lively, abstract design in soft pastels and bright accents that ties everything together underfoot.

On the walls, I added a collection of colorful framed art and a cheerful, oversized mirror framed in rainbow hues. A tall, sculptural floor lamp in bright primary colors adds both light and whimsy, while the side tables were refreshed with geometric shapes and cheerful tones. Finally, I brought in a large leafy plant to soften all the color and keep the space feeling fresh and welcoming.

The result is a room that still feels open and bright, but now tells a story—playful, creative, and full of personality.
