As a professional interior designer with a passion for blending timeless charm with modern comfort, I was thrilled to take on this cozy sitting room in what appears to be a classic Craftsman-style home. The space had so much inherent character—think those gorgeous wooden wainscoting panels, the intricate stained-glass window that lets in a kaleidoscope of light, and that leafy green wallpaper evoking a sense of vintage serenity. But before my touch, it felt a bit stark and underutilized: a simple beige sofa sat against the wall, paired with a solitary gray armchair and a basic wooden side table. A neutral rug anchored the floor, and a tall floor lamp provided some illumination, but the room lacked warmth, personality, and those little details that make a space feel inviting and lived-in.

My goal was to enhance the room's natural elegance without overpowering its historic bones. I started by softening the seating to create a more welcoming vibe. I swapped the original beige sofa for a plush white slipcovered version—easy to clean and perfect for curling up with a book. To add a touch of coziness, I layered on a soft throw blanket and a plaid accent pillow, introducing subtle texture and pattern that plays nicely with the wallpaper's botanical motif.
